Question
h=1/2gt^2 + v0t

solve for t

Answer
Hi Ashlee , this is a quadratic equation. Let's change a little
bit how its written : h=1/2gt^2 + v0t = 0.5gt^2+vot-h
The quadratic equation has 2 solutions :

    -vo+sqrt[vo^2-4*0.5*(-h)]          -vo+sqrt[vo^2+2h]
t1= --------------------------    =    ------------------
               2*0.5g                          g

   -vo-sqrt[vo^2-4*0.5*(-h)]           -vo-sqrt[vo^2+2h]
t2= --------------------------    =    ------------------
               2*0.5g                           g

Usually one solution of the two , is not physically valid, for instance negative value. So we disqualify it & take the other
one as 'the' solution
