Question
Determine the positive radian measure of the angle that the second hand of a clock traces out in the given time.

A) 55 seconds

B) 3 minutes and 55 seconds

Answer
Hi Brooke,
A)60 seconds represent a radian measure of 2#. 55 seconds, therefore, represents
55/60 x 2#
= 11/12 x 2#
= 11#/6 radians

B)3 minutes 55 seconds = 3(60) + 55 = 180 + 55 = 235 seconds
And in radian measure, it represents
235/60 x 2#
= 47/12 x 2#
= 47#/6 radians
