Question
Find critical numbers and relative maximum(s), and relative minimum(s) of     f(x)=x^4-6x^2+2

Answer
f(x)=x^4-6x^2+2
f'(x)=4x^3-12x
f'(x)=0 : 4x^3-12x=0 --> x(4x^2-12)=0 . Solutions : x1=0, x2=√3, x3=-√3 . These are the
critical points .
f''(x)=12x^2-12 .
f''(0)=-12 --> -12<0 then x1=0 is a max point .
f''(√3)=-12 --> 96>0 then x2=√3 is a min point .
f''(-√3)=-12 --> 96>0 then x2=-√3 is a min point .
