Question
how many pounds of 65% hth chlorine are required to disinfect a 6 inch water main, 600 feet long with 50 ppm chlorine dosage

Answer
If you mean to fill the entire pipe with the chlorine mixture,
I will assume that 6 inches is the diameter.  Half of the diameter
is the radius, so the radius is 3 inches and I will assume it's a
round water main.

600   length of pipe   feet
0.25   radius   feet
3.1416   pi
1728   cb in/cu ft
0.65   density of chlorine in solution given

454      gm/lb
2.54      cm/in
50      parts chorine
1,000,000   total parts

117.8097245   volume   ft³
0.00005     chlorine density desired, 50 parts per million
0.005890486   amount of chlorine   ft³
10.1787602   amount of chlorine   in³
15.65963107   solution needed   in³
256.6153766   solution needed   cm³
256.6153766   amount of solution *   gm
0.565232107   amount of solution   lbs

little over 1/2 lb   amount of solution

* Assumes 1 cc is one gram;
It is with true water, but I'm not sure here.

I did it in Excel and imported it in.

Note that desnisty was done in metric
due to the conversion on cc to weight.

I noticed that this said it was in trig - is it really?

Experience

Experience in the area: I have tutored students in all areas of mathematics for over 25 years. Education/Credentials: BSand MS in Mathematics from Oregon State University, where I completed sophomore course in Physics and Chemistry. I received both degrees with high honors. Awards and Honors: I have passed Actuarial tests 100, 110, and 135.

Publications
Maybe not a publication, but I have respond to well oveer 7,500 questions on the PC. Well over 2,000 of them have been in calculus.

Education/Credentials
I aquired well over 40 hours of upper division courses. This was well over the number that were required. I graduated with honors in both my BS and MS degree from Oregon State University. I was allowed to jump into a few junior level courses my sophomore year.

Awards and Honors
I have been nominated as the expert of the month several times. All of my scores right now are at least a 9.8 average (out of 10).
