Question
Dear Sir,

Could you please help me to resolve this?

( A manufactures makes 2 kinds of chairs. The basic chair requires 2 hours of sanding, 4 hours of painting and 1 hour of assembly. The deluxe chair requires 5 hours of sanding, 7 hours of painting and 2 hour of assembly. The sanding department is available for 120 hours per week, the paiting department for 200 hours and the assembly department for 100 hours.
How many chairs of each type should be produced each week?
a. Create a proper system of linear equations and solve it GJE.
b. What do you know about solubility of this system of linear equations.)

Thanks Sir a lot
Best Regards

........................................

Start by naming variables, like:

B = number of basic chairs made in one week.
D = number of delux chairs made in one week.

Then do something like this:

Express the number of sanding hours needed for B basic chairs.
Express the number of sanding hours needed for D delux chairs.
Put those together and write that their sum <= 120

Express the number of painting hours needed for B basic chairs.
Express the number of painting hours needed for D delux chairs.
Put those together and write that their sum <= ??

Express the number of assembling hours needed for B basic chairs.
Express the number of assembling hours needed for D delux chairs.
Put those together and write that their sum <= ??

Now you have your 'equations'.

Go on from there.

And next time, do not use jargon like GJE.  I don't have your textbook.

All topics in first-year calculus including infinite series, max-min and related rate problems. Also trigonometry and complex numbers, theory of equations, exponential and logarithmic functions. I can also try (but not guarantee) to answer questions on Analysis -- sequences, limits, continuity.

Experience

I taught all mathematics subjects from elementary algebra to differential equations at a two-year college in New York City for 25 years.
