Question
find the slope of the tangent line to the graph of the function at a given point.
g(x)=3/2x+1...(-2,-2)

Answer
Hello Vanessa,
I didn't understand if the graph g(x) is whether (3/2)x+1 or
3/(2x+1) or [3/(2x)]+1 . So, I will solve the question with g(x)
is 3/(2x+1) .
So, the tangent line will have a form L(x)=ax+b , where a is the slope of the line. We know that the slope will be equal to the slope of the function g(x). And since we know that slope=derivative, then
L'(x)=g'(x) at x=-2 .
Now,
L'(x)=a , AND g'(x)=[ 3/(2x+1) ]'= [-3/(2x+1)^2]*2=-6/(2x+1)^2 .
Thus,
a=-6/(2*2+1)^2
a=-6/25

P.s If the you ment g(x) to be otherwise , please notify me .

Best regards,

Alon.
