Question
Hello there,

I am doing this maths module at this university.

1. 4 in-class tests, of which the best 3 will count. Each test contributes 20% to the overall mark. (60%).

2. 10 in-class or assessments, marked on a scale 0 - 4.(40%).

Pass mark is 40% or above.

I need you tell me if I have already failed the module or am I on course to pass the module?

The following are the test done so far:

Test 1: 5 out of 20 marks.
Test 2: 2 out of 20 marks.
Test 3: Yet to be done.
Test 4. Yet to be done.

Class Test 1: 100%
Class Test 2: 0%
Class Test 3: 0%
Class Test 4: 0%
Class Test 5: 0%
Class Test 6: 13.3%
Class Test 7: 0%

Can you kindly tell me what is my current score?

and

I would like to know in each of the remaining tests, how much more do I need to pass the whole module?

I thank you for your help. Thank you.
John Scales.

Answer
Hi John,
I'm afraid that based on your results you currently only have a score of about 14.87%. But of course you can still pass the module if you can improve dramatically on the remaining results. Theoretically, you can still get as much as 61% in the overall score but only if the remaining results can be flawless.
A lot will depend on the remaining 2 of the 4 in-class tests though as they carry more significance now.

Regards
