Greetings Sir,
Just wondering if there is a nice polynomial formula for absolute values.i.e formula for |x|.Thanks

Answer
The polynomial equation is really two piecewise linear equations.
That is,
|x|: f(x) = x for x>0 and
|x|: f(x) = -x for x<0.

Note that |x| for x=0 is is just 0, so the greater than and less than symbols
could be greater than or equal to and less than or equal to symbols.

I aquired well over 40 hours of upper division courses. This was well over the number that were required. I graduated with honors in both my BS and MS degree from Oregon State University. I was allowed to jump into a few junior level courses my sophomore year.

I have been nominated as the expert of the month several times. All of my scores right now are at least a 9.8 average (out of 10).
