What are the possible rational roots of 3x^3 - 2x^2 + 6x - 7 =0?

Factor x^3 - 8x^2 + 17x - 6 completely.

Answer
Try x-1 as a factor.
This gives (x-1)(3x^2 + x + 7), and that looks right.
Take a=3, b=1, and c=7.
The two solutions for x are
[-b - sqrt(b^2-4ac)]/(2a) and [-b + sqrt(b^2-4ac)]/(2a).

Let these two number be r2 and r2.
To completely factor the problem, it wouold be
(x-1)(x-r1)(x-r2).
