Subject:calculus: derivatives for trigonometry
Question:differentiate y=5x^2 tan^3(3x^2-1)

....................................
Use a few rules:

y=  u v  << prod

u  = 5x^2

v = tan^3(3x^2-1)

v = w^3  << Gen Power rule

w = tan(3x^2-1)

w = tan s  <<  chain rule

s = 3x^2-1

Work your way back up, one step at a time.

Expertise

All topics in first-year calculus including infinite series, max-min and related rate problems. Also trigonometry and complex numbers, theory of equations, exponential and logarithmic functions. I can also try (but not guarantee) to answer questions on Analysis -- sequences, limits, continuity.

Experience

I taught all mathematics subjects from elementary algebra to differential equations at a two-year college in New York City for 25 years.
