Question

Problem
Good afternoon,
The question is to calculate the average rate of change [a,a+h] where h=1,0.1,.01,.001.
f(x)=1/x;a=2.

Attached please find what I have done so far but I am missing steps to get the correct answer.

Please help.

Answer
ALl that is left to do is to put in a=5 for the 1st and a=2 for the 2nd
with h as 1, 0.1, 0.01, and 0.001.

For two examples ...

For the 1st one, with a=5 and h=0.1, it would be -9/(9*9.1) = -9/81.9 = -1/9.1 = -10/91.

For the 2nd one, with a=2 and h=0.001, it would be -1/(2*2.001) = -1/4.002 = -500/2001.
