Question
Dear Prof Abe

How will you classify Ship Geometrical Shape?. Is it Cylindrical, Spherical, Elliptical, oval, Parabolic, Hexagonal etc?.

Is it possible to design different Geometrical shapes for Ships?.

Thanks
Prashant

Answer
Hello Prashant,

I gather you mean the shape of the hull.  I am not aware of any special geometric name to
describe it.  It roughly resembles a parabolic sheet, but that does not come to a sharp
edge as does the hull of a ship with a keel.

As for different shapes, check these sites:

I hope this helps.
