Question
I'm having trouble starting out on my algebra questions...
Write an equation in slope-intercept form of the line with the given slope And y-intercept.

1. slope: -3, y-intercept:1
2.slope:4, y-intercept form:-2

and also graphing each equation... lets say that i had...
3. y = 2 x + y = 5
or
4. y = - 3 x + 1
or
5. 2 x + y = 5
or even...
6. 3 x - 2 y = 2

Thanks!! :) plz. reply ASAP  !!! thanks Scotto.... i appreciate it lots...

Answer
Lines have the form y = mx + b.
The variable m denotes the slope and b is for the y intercept.

3. y = 2 x + y = 5 - this does not look like an equation - it has the solution x=0, y=5.

4. Here, the slope is m=-3, y intercept is 1, so the line drops 3 units for every 1 it goes to the right (that's what slope is) by and it crosses the y-axis at 1.

5. The proper form of this equation is y = -2x + 5,
so m=-2, b=5 (negative slope, positive intercept).

6. y = (3x-2)/2, or 1.5x - 4, so you see what m and b are?  Can you see the graph now?
