Question:  Please differentiate.

y = 3x^1/2(x-1)

Hi, Anastasia,

This looks like the Product Rule:

u = x^1/2

du/dx = (1/2)x^-1/2 = 1/(2sqrt(x))

Take out the constant factor of 3:

************* USE COURIER FONT TO VIEW THIS ************

dy                     1
-- = 3[ x^1/2(1) +  ---------- ]
dx                  2 sqrt(x)

dy                     1
-- = 3[ sqrt(x) +  ---------- ]
dx                  2 sqrt(x)

dy       2x + 1
-- = 3[ --------- ]
dx      2 sqrt(x)

That does it.
