California/Yosemite to Monterey

Question
We are planning a stay in Yosemite.  On our last day we plan to visit Glacier Point.  What is the best way to get to Monterey from Glacier Point?  Do we go south towards Fresno and then west to Monterey?  Or do we go back to Yosemite Valley and go west to Mariposa and from there to Monterey?

thanks

Answer
Thanks for this good question! Check Mapquest.com, but I believe that returning to the main West Portal entrance will be quicker.  You want to drive through Merced, Los Banos, and over the Pacheco Pass toward Mission San Juan Bautista enroute to US 101.
