California/RV Camping

Question
Can you give me your opinion of the RV park that is in Playa Del Rey? Can't remember the name but it starts with a D.

Answer
Hi Jerry,

You must be thinking of Dockweiler Beach.

It's a rather mixed bag. On the plus side, you are right on the beach, and it's the only RV park even close to Los Angeles. On the down side, the sites are small, and you are RIGHT UNDER the flight path of LAX. Jumbo jets are taking off a couple hundred feet over your head, and the smell of jet wash is palpable. And the water treatment plant just to the south completes the picture.

If you must camp near LA, then this is about your only option. Personally, it's not my cup of tea.

I recommend Newport Dunes if you have the money, or Doheny State Beach near Dana Point.

Expertise

I was born and raised in Los Angeles. I`ve lived in the Valley, west side, east side, and South Bay, so I`m an expert on getting around town. I`m knowledgeable about all of the Southern California tourist attractions. I am also an expert on state beaches in Southern California, and have an expansive camping background. No relocation/moving questions, please.

Experience

I have lived in Southern California my entire life. I'm a "local", with expert knowledge of Southern California. I've done a lot of extensive traveling to NorCal, so I can provide answers about northern California as a visitor, and southern California as a local.

Education/Credentials
Not that this matters, but since it's required, I have a Bachelor's Degree. I also have a Master's Degree in the University of Life.
