Answer
Glad to hear you had a nice time...

Many of the beaches like Carp are booked solid all summer. It takes considerable advance planning, and a little luck.

As for water parks, you can check out some of the local ones like Soak City (at Knott's), Raging Waters in San Dimas, Wild Rivers in Irvine, or Hurricane Harbor at Magic Mountain. I know that Knott's has a hotel on the property, but the rest do not.

As an alternative, you could stay at the Flamingo in Las Vegas. They have a SPECTACULAR swimming complex, which rivals some water parks. 4 pools, waterfalls, a water slide, and more. Also, the MGM Grand has a great pool area and a 1000-foot lazy river; Mandalay Bay has 4 pools and a giant wave pool. I know, it's not Carp, but it's a change of scenery, and you can get deals in the summer.

Good luck!
