California/San Francisco - sights, shops

Question
I'm going to San Francisco tomorrow for four day convention tomorrow and
staying near Moscone Center. Will have free time tomorrow and Thursday
afternoon. Anything particular I must see? Shops? Cable cars, of course.
Thinking of Sausilito. Interested in character, great souvenir shops and places
for cool, not too expensive crafts, jewelry nearby or Sausilito. Fun places to
eat dinner, people watch. Thanks! Pam, Massachusetts.

This will be a fun weekend for you!  If you are interested in an evening dance performance, the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts is right across the street from the Moscone Center.  Better reserve now or in the morning when you arrive.  The website is the easiest place to choose a seat and purchase a ticket.  Google Yerba Buena Center for the Arts and you'll find out what's scheduled.  A Cable Car ride is within easy walking distance of the Moscone Center, and so is Union Square, the center of SF shopping district.  Unfortunately, "not too expensive" crafts are not to be found there or in Sausalito, except when a store like Macy's is having some kind of big sale.  Try browsing my tips and those of others at Virtualtourist.com for more specifics on things to do in San Francisco.  SFGate.com is also a good place to check for dinner and music.

Have Fun.
