Question
What is the best route to travel from Sockton to San Diego by car?  One of my friends mentioned that I should take the 210 so I stay off of Highway 5 by LA.  Please advice on best route by car.

I lived in San Diego for 8 years, and actually I found that taking I-5 straight up was the best way to go.  It gets pretty congesting in LA, that's true, but if you time your arrival into LA for evening, you'll do OK.  It takes about 6 hrs to go from Stockton to LA, so depart at a time with plans to arrive in the LA basin after dark, if possible.  So, again, simply stay on I-5 for the shortest route, depending of course on where you are going in San Diego County.
