Question
Hi, I live in San Francisco, and the weather has been very hot for the whole week. I don't know if you would know, but when do you think the weather would cool down? I'm tired of wearing shorts pants and sleeves!

Answer
Hi Emily,

Well, August and September are the hottest months for San Francisco, and the Bay Area in general.  What's really hot for SF though is as much as 20 degrees cooler that what those just 20 miles East experience.  The problem is that those in the East Bay and Central Valley typically have a/c systems in their homes, while few SF homes bother to install a/c systems.  You will find the weather cycles come off the ocean in 4-7 day cycles, so you are by now probably due for a cool down, as the inland heat draws ocean air inland--the Delta Breeze.  SF has warm and very comfortable weather until as late as November, and then during winter, the weather is cooler, but as much as 20 degress higher on average than the inland valley areas.  Winter in SF isn't all that bad, really.  It's not a tropical climate by any means, but frosty weather is very rare there.  Hope this helps...
