Question
hi ernest, wonder if you could help me, My family would like to go on a fly drive to california starting off in los angeles then driving to las vegas then san francisco before heading back to los angeles, we would be spending four days in each place and 2 in los angeles again before we return home, Do you think this is possible especially the drive from las vegas to san francisco would we be able to complete each main drive in one day, would really appreciate your reply thanks, from priscilla.

Answer
Priscilla,

Yes, the drive between Las Vegas and San Francisco can be completed in one day, if necessary, although if you are driving in the summer or early fall/late spring, the a longer route that includes driving through Yosemite may be more desireable.  Use Google maps to determine the driving routes between these places.  The drive from Las Vegas to San Francisco will be about 9 hours, so breaking the drive up into two days may be more comfortable and certainly more scenic because the fastest route takes the rather boring I-5 most of the way.
