Question
Hi Steve, we're from New Zealand and will be visiting Anaheim in early May 2009 for 8 days.  On one of those 8 days (definitely a weekday), we'll be heading down to San Diego Sea World.  Because we'll be with a bus tour, time will be of the essence and I fear, we'll be rushing from show to show.  Are you able to advise how long (approximately) each of the following shows are: Shamu-Believe, Dolphin Discovery, Clyde and Seamore's Risky Rescue, Pets Rule and Lights Camera Imagination?  Thanks.

Answer
Hi Areta,

Unfortunately, the way shows are set up, you generally have to rush from show to show. However, the thing to remember is that this is SEA World, not pet world. The best shows to see are the Shamu, dolphin, and sea lion shows. If you find yourself rushed for time, you can pass on the pet show and Elmo show. They're OK, but just not as good as the water shows. The must-see is the Shamu Show. Shows are close to 20 minutes, so it's sometimes difficult to get out of one show and into the next one in time.

The show times for May aren't up yet, but you can see a typical schedule here: http://www.seaworldsandiego.com/ParkHours.aspx?LocationID=3&ScheduleID=39897

If you are thinking of doing something special, the lunch with Shamu is decent food and a nice behind-the-scenes experience.

Have fun!
