Question
Hi Ernest,
Im taking a group of 7 ladies to the Orpheum Theater for Mothers Day this thursday. Can you recommend a decent place to eat dinner, within walking distance and within reasonable price range, that would harbor a good atmosphere for a group of middle aged women? A place where we could gets drinks as well would be preferable.
Thank you in advance!!

Answer
Hi Rebecca,

Sounds like a fun night!  My first choice for such an occasion close to the Orpheum Theater would be Cafe' do Brazil.  The food is authentic and good. There's plenty of room for everyone, and there's a full bar.  Google "San Francisco Cafe do Brazil", and you will get several reviews, directions, phone numbers, etc.

If Brazilian food isn't your style, then Google "San Francisco Orpheium restaurant", and you will quickly find a link for a list of about a dozen restaurants within walking distance of the Orpheum.

Actually, though you don't HAVE to be within walking distance because along Market are the antique trolleys, underground MUNI, and if necessary the electric buses.  So, if for example you find through a restaurant search/review at www.sfgate.com another restaurant you like anywhere along Market street, as far south as the intersection at Castro, transport to the Orphium will be no more than 15 minutes.

Have fun!   alan
