California/San Mateo Beaches?

Question
Hi Ernest,
I used to go to a beach called "Your" Beach years ago. After scouring the internet for the real name I believe that beach to be Gracie's Beach/Yankee Jim Gulch, it's fairly close to Pigeon Point Lighthouse. I'm wondering if you know anything about this area? We used to be able to camp on the beach and have bon fires, are you aware of any changes to this?
Any help would be appreciated, I cant seem to find my answers on the internet and would hate to drive all the way down there from Napa to find out we cant camp.....

Answer
Hi Rebecca,

I'm afraid that you may be more informed than me about this, but I do know some current information that may be of help.  Recently, the CA State Parks department has taken over a long stretch of Pacific coast shoreline along norther Santa Cruz County area.  At one time, we used to freely let our dogs off leash and build bonfires in the coves of this region--but no longer.  The state's interest in restoring the wildlife and natural aspect of the coastline have eliminated such easy camping and free use of the beaches.  Check the CA state parks website for more information.  Sorry I can't be of more specific help...
