California/Carmel

Question
I'm going to Carmel next week and will be attending the car show that will be at Pebble beach. What will the weather be like, what is Calif casual wear? I'm staying at the Doris day hotel. Any suggestions for nearby wine tours and maybe a good restaurant that would be a "must" to eat at? Thank you.

Answer
Please visit an on-line weather report site for Carmel and get the current information because the weather can be variable at this time of year.  It won't be cold and rainy, but you may have cool fog in the morning and evening, and so want a sweater or light jacket.  Sometimes though, the weather is mildly warm and delightful at this time of year, and certainly into the early fall.  I don't have current information for the Monterey Bay Area wine tours, as this region is rather small and spread out for that.  It would be better to drive a rental car to specific places, which should be found also by Google for Monterey, Santa Cruz Mountains, and Santa Clara Valley wineries.  See my pages for Carmel, Monterey, Santa Cruz, and so on at Virtualtourist.com under membername atufft.  There are many "must eat" restaurants, but they are not on the Monterey Fisherman's Wharf.  As I recall a place called "Flying Fish" in Carmel is one of my favorites for pairing wine and seafood.  Have fun...
