Hi Steve, We will be camping at El Capitan State Beach in two weeks. My question is, do you happen to know what the size is on the BBQ pit. (i.e. 2 feet wide). Reason being, my husband loves to cook over an open fire and we purchased a fire pit accessory that is 24" x 16" and 8" tall. It's designed to provide a nice grill surface area. When we camped in Carpinteria, the fire pits had a "half grill", meaning it only covered half of the fire pit. A fellow camper lent us his grill top which we used and loved it. Thus our inspiration to buy our own. The grill is heavy so if it won't fit we'll leave it at home. Thanks so much!

Hi Christina,

The fire pits at El Cap are EXACTLY the same as at Carp: round metal pits. I don't know the exact measurements, so I would have to say that they are 2'-3' wide. My best guess would be about 30". Some pits are larger than others, so it really depends on which site you get. I'm not sure about the grill accessory you have, so I'm not sure it will "fit". I found a nice grill top at an RV store, and use that occasionally. Those "half grills" are pretty rusty, and it's too easy for stuff to fall through.
