California/huntington beach

Question
Several months ago we inquired about good Orange County beaches near Dana Point, the city we were planning on staying in at the time. However, we may have an opportunity to stay at Huntington Beach the last week of July instead. It will put us closer to Anaheim and Los Angeles, where we anticipate spending the majority of our time, but we are concerned about sacrificing the quality of the surroundings for the convenience of proximity.
We would appreciate your opinion regarding these 2 options.
Thanks !

Answer
Hi Frank,

Huntington Beach is actually superior, in my opinion, as a beach town. Dana Point is nice, but you just get a more "beachy" feel in HB in my opinion. I've stayed in vacation rentals in HB, and had a blast. The area around the pier in HB is the center of activity, but it's a great time for all anywhere within a mile or two. Being closer to LA and Anaheim is a bonus. If given the opportunity, I would pick HB any time.

No worries! Have fun!

Expertise

I was born and raised in Los Angeles. I`ve lived in the Valley, west side, east side, and South Bay, so I`m an expert on getting around town. I`m knowledgeable about all of the Southern California tourist attractions. I am also an expert on state beaches in Southern California, and have an expansive camping background. No relocation/moving questions, please.

Experience

I have lived in Southern California my entire life. I'm a "local", with expert knowledge of Southern California. I've done a lot of extensive traveling to NorCal, so I can provide answers about northern California as a visitor, and southern California as a local.

Education/Credentials
Not that this matters, but since it's required, I have a Bachelor's Degree. I also have a Master's Degree in the University of Life.
