Question
We will be in Anaheim April 25-30 staying at the Anaheim Fairfield inn.We are not planning on going to Disneyland on Monday the 25th and would like to take the kids to Balboa Fun zone... We are not renting a car this time so was needing to know the best way to get there? Also we had considered Newport or Huntington beach as well but thought the kids would enjoy Balboa more

Answer
Hi Rebecca,

Are you sure you don't want to rent a car? The kids WILL enjoy the Balboa Fun Zone, but not the long bus ride to the beach.

BTW, which Fairfield Inn? There's one on Harbor Blvd, right across from Disneyland, and another "Fairfield Inn Anaheim" that's really in Placentia, a good 10 miles away. Either way, you'll want to do a little research on metrolinktrains.com and octa.net.

From the Disneyland area, you can take a bus to the Metrolink stop in Anaheim. Then take the Metrolink to Tustin station. Take OCTA bus 70 west to Red Hill, where you can transfer to the 71 south. The 71 OCTA bus will take you all the way to the Fun Zone.

If you are staying at the one in Placentia, you can walk down to Orangethorpe, take the OCTA 30 east to Rose, then catch the 71 south right there.

Once you get to the Fun Zone, you also have the pier area. We love to eat out on the pier at Ruby's, a 50's style diner with really good burgers, and GREAT shakes.

Taxi cabs are VERY expensive, and will probably cost upwards of $80, twice the cost of a rental car for a day. Just a thought.

Have fun!
