Question
We'll be visiting San Diego July 21-24. Can you recommend some "can't miss" attractions, restaurants, etc.?  We're middle age & active. My wife loves wine!  This is our first visit. We have accomodations & a rental car.
Thanks

Answer
Park the car downtown in the Gaslamp quarter and walk around for dining.  Seaport Village, the USS Midway, the old ships at the embarcadero, and nightclubs of the Gas Lamp quarter are all attractions there.  I would also drive up to La Jolla, park the car and walk around the upscale shopping district and watch the seals beached at the La Jolla Cove area.  Bazarre del Mundo and Old Town San Diego are similarly worth a visit, then go up the hill to the Presidio and a drive around Mission Hills residential area for some views and nice old homes.  Balboa Park and the Hillcrest Neighborhoods can be seen in the same day by rental car.  Sea World and further out Wild Animal Park are also must see attractions in the area.  Also, drive across the bridge to Coronado and visit the old hotel.
