Question
I am hoping that you good give us some guidance regarding a visit we planto make in September.  So far all we have is a rough idea to stay at the Ahwahnee two nites and then drive towards San Simeon.   Then we hope to continue North thru Carmel back to San Fran.  We are NYer's and have no clue where to stay on the loop.
The trip: three nites in San Fran, two nites in Yosemite, the next three or four nites looping back thru San Simeon and Carmel.
Thanks for any advice you can offer.

Answer
Sorry if this is too late.  The drive from Yosemite to San Luis Obispo takes you through the region where most of your produce and fruit are grown--the Great Central Valley, but there is little else to see.  Visit Hearst Castle and watch the sea lions at Piedras Blancas.  The drive from San Simeon to Carmel is the great coastal highway, but plan to drive this within a few hours.  Have fun....
