Question
Dear Steve, My husband and I have never driven in this area of So Cal and do not like to drive on freeways we don't know. I checked out MapQuest and as usual even I know the directions are probably not very good. We will be landing at the domestic terminal and renting a car and departing to Palm Springs. Once we get to CA 111, we are okay. I assume getting on I-10 as early as possible is the best. Can you help us here? Thanks so much.  Judy (No Cal sissy freeway driver)

Answer
Depending on where you get your rental, simply get on Holt Blvd (East), Archibald Ave (North), or Vineyard Ave (North). It is less than a half mile to the 10 E. Stay on 10 E to 111.

You should be fine, as long as you aren't trying to leave the airport during a weekday afternoon. The traffic is TERRIBLE then. Try to come in on a weekday morning or a weekend, and you should be just fine. Once you get past the 15, traffic should be a lot easier.

Have fun,

Steve

Expertise

I was born and raised in Los Angeles. I`ve lived in the Valley, west side, east side, and South Bay, so I`m an expert on getting around town. I`m knowledgeable about all of the Southern California tourist attractions. I am also an expert on state beaches in Southern California, and have an expansive camping background. No relocation/moving questions, please.

Experience

I have lived in Southern California my entire life. I'm a "local", with expert knowledge of Southern California. I've done a lot of extensive traveling to NorCal, so I can provide answers about northern California as a visitor, and southern California as a local.

Education/Credentials
Not that this matters, but since it's required, I have a Bachelor's Degree. I also have a Master's Degree in the University of Life.
