Question
I am looking for a good group camp spot in Northern California, within 2 1/2 hrs from Walnut Creek. It is for 10 families with kids ranging from ages 6-15. Most of the kids are boys.
There are wide variety of options for group camping in California. For example, those in the mainstream Protestant Christian denominations, Mount Hermon provides excellent meditative and group activities for children within the Santa Cruz Mountains. Similarly, there are ranches and group camps, catering to every type of interest located within the Russian River Area. Ten families are a significant number that might satisfy the minimum requirements for such summer camp type experience. From Walnut Creek, it takes more than 2-1/2 hours to drive to the California State Parks and National Forest Campgrounds with the Sierra Nevada, but this is where I would probably go.
