California/Hot springs in Southern California

Question
Steve,

Thanks for the previous answer on accommodations in Disneyland and Hollywood.
By the way, some of the Disneyland's motels emphasize that they offer great view of Disneyland's nightly Fireworks.

Do they really differ in this regard? I mean if the motel is geographically close to Disneyland it should provide good view in any case.

One more question. I am a big fan of hot springs and on this trip plan to check out Remington and Pyramid hot springs (both near Bakersfield) as well as Big Caliente and Las Cruces hot springs (near Santa Barbara).

Have you been to any of them? If "yes," how did you like them? Any suggestions?

THanks in advance,

Alexey

Answer
Hi Alexei,

Some motels have better views than others. If you have a small motel next to a large hotel, the larger building may be blocking the smaller one. Some, like the Holiday Inn on Harbor Blvd, are literally next to where they shoot them off. The Marriott, on the other hand, is blocked by the Hilton.

As for the hot springs, I have not been to those hot springs in person, but I have done a lot of traveling in the area, and I am familiar with the roads in the hills above Santa Barbara. You do NOT want to drive those dirt roads in a rental car. It would be very expensive to get stuck on one of those roads. The hot springs near Bakersfield are a safer bet. Just be aware that most of the hot springs that I researched are clothing optional. Not really my cup of tea, but if you enjoy it, have a great time.

Have fun,

Steve

I was born and raised in Los Angeles. I`ve lived in the Valley, west side, east side, and South Bay, so I`m an expert on getting around town. I`m knowledgeable about all of the Southern California tourist attractions. I am also an expert on state beaches in Southern California, and have an expansive camping background. No relocation/moving questions, please.

I have lived in Southern California my entire life. I'm a "local", with expert knowledge of Southern California. I've done a lot of extensive traveling to NorCal, so I can provide answers about northern California as a visitor, and southern California as a local.

Not that this matters, but since it's required, I have a Bachelor's Degree. I also have a Master's Degree in the University of Life.
