Question
Hi Steve- I just bought an RV, want to park it as close to the beach somewhere in Santa Barbara or Ventura area for May 28th thry 31st. Any suggestions??? Thanks-Jo

Answer
Hi Jo,

Yes, I have a suggestion: Call the state parks last November. Sorry to say this, but the coast is VERY popular this time of year. You might be able to book a site through reserveamerica.com at Thornhill Broom State Beach (which is actually parking by the water, but it's not beach). These sites book in November for the month of May, so you would need to plan a little more in advance.

However, you might just get lucky, considering it's midweek, and most schools aren't out yet. On reserveamerica, try starting at Carpinteria State Beach. How big is your rig? If it's over 24 feet, you will need to either camp in Long Row, or in one of the "dry camping" spots. After that, try El Capitan or Refugio, McGrath, or Leo Carillo.

Good luck,

Steve

I have lived in Southern California my entire life. I'm a "local", with expert knowledge of Southern California. I've done a lot of extensive traveling to NorCal, so I can provide answers about northern California as a visitor, and southern California as a local.
