I have reservations at Curry Village and was unclear about the food situation/options. Are there food preparation areas (i.e., fire pits, etc.) to prepare your own food or are meals limited to the cafeteria and restuarants nearby?

Hi Michael,

There are a few fire pits scattered throughout Curry Village, but they are not really for food prep, as campfires are limited to the hours of 5-10 PM. I have seen a few people cooking on camp stoves, but just about everyone in Curry Village eats out.

Note: The food in Yosemite, in general, is not very good. The Cafeteria in Curry Village is probably the worst. If you stay in Curry, I recommend the pizza shack and the burger shack in front. Eat at the cafeteria at your peril. Use the bear boxes to store your cooler and food. Bring muffins and cereal for breakfast, as well as plenty of water and snacks. Bring in some hamburger, hot dogs, and a hibachi, and you're set.
