what would you reccomend as the best most scernic
beach to spend time at?  

Answer
Well, that depends on what you mean by "scenery". For a nice, wide open sandy beach (with firepits, no less) I like Bolsa Chica State beach. You have a wetlands sanctuary right across the street, and you can stay late with a fire.

If you want a nice beach for a photo shoot, I would head a bit south and go to La Jolla, where the caves and tidepools are the most beautiful. Or, you can go to Corona Del Mar, where it's not quite as pretty, but not so far. (I live in Orange County). You can also drive north to Malibu for some beautiful beaches.

I have a particular fondness for Carpinteria State Beach, which almost always has beautiful sunsets. In the summer when we camp there, we either hurry dinner or stop cooking for awhile, just to watch the sun set. Sometimes we finish our dinner on a picnic table on the sand dunes.

I know that's not a one-sentence definitive answer, but I hope it helps.
