Thanks for your answer it was really helpful.  Big Bear sounds great for one of our trips.  Do you have any names of the sites up there? (We tent camp).  We'll see where we can get in at the beach sites too.  Thanks again.

Answer
Hi Kirstin,

Serrano and Pineknot Campgrounds are probably your best bets, and are reservation only. Call 1/877/444-6777 or log on to www.reserveusa.com to make reservations. Serrano Campground is located on the north shore of Big Bear Lake and has easy access to the lake, the Alpine Pedal Path, Cougar Crest Trail and the activities at the Discovery Center. This is a great family campground because of the proximity to recreational activities that children would be interested in. Also, Serrano has showers. RV sites and tent camping are possible at both campgrounds.
Pineknot is in a hilly, wooded and beautiful area near the Snow Summit Ski area. and very popular with mountain bikers because it's near the Snow Summit chairlifts. All sites include a table, fire ring and BBQ grill. Firewood for sale on site.

Hanna Flats Campground is located a few miles north of Fawnskin in a spectacular Jeffrey Pine forest. Water and bathrooms are available and hiking and biking are excellent from this less urban site. Great Forest scenery with many hardwood tress such as Oak and Mountain Mahogany. Bike and hiking trails, including the Hanna Flat Trail. All sites include a table, stove/fire ring, and paved parking. Firewood for sale on site.

You can find some excellent descriptions at http://www.bigbearlake.net/camping/.

Have fun,

Expertise

I was born and raised in Los Angeles. I`ve lived in the Valley, west side, east side, and South Bay, so I`m an expert on getting around town. I`m knowledgeable about all of the Southern California tourist attractions. I am also an expert on state beaches in Southern California, and have an expansive camping background. No relocation/moving questions, please.

Experience

I have lived in Southern California my entire life. I'm a "local", with expert knowledge of Southern California. I've done a lot of extensive traveling to NorCal, so I can provide answers about northern California as a visitor, and southern California as a local.

Education/Credentials
Not that this matters, but since it's required, I have a Bachelor's Degree. I also have a Master's Degree in the University of Life.
