Question
Do you have any suggestions where 2 middle age couples can stay in Carmel in the early part of December.  We would like to stay within our budget of $200.00 per night.  We enjoy good wine and fine food.  I will appreciate your suggestions.  Thank you!

Answer
I'm sorry to admit that I don't know much about pricing accomodations in this area that I frequent.  I have a family cabin in the Santa Cruz mountains and an uncle in Pebble Beach with whom my wife and I stay when in the region.  However, I note that www.carmelbythesea.com, and www.monterey-carmel.com both offer good lists of B&Bs and small hotels in the area.  I would avoid the few larger hotels that exist in this area as this would spoil the retreat like atmosphere of the Monterey Peninsula.  A B&B for two couples sounds like a good idea for shared intimacy.  You might also consider lodging in nearby Pacific Grove, which provides better values for accomodations and restaurants, but has a spectacular shoreline.  Good luck.
