Question
dear John,
I have a Pentax ZX-5N that has worked flawlessly for a long time and I take gooc care of it.  The mirror has stuck in the up position and I don't know why, or how to fix it.  There's nothing in the Troubleshooting portion of the book and I haven't discovered a mirror lock Button like on some other caneras, so....
Can you help?
Thank You,
Most Sincerely,
Don Loomis

Answer
Don,
A quick search on eBay tells me that it would be less expensive to buy a used ZX-5 than it would be to have yours fixed.  Or you might even want to look into a digital camera that will take your lenses.

Try a new battery.  If the camera still won't cycle, then it is in need of repair.

Expertise

I can answer questions about point and shoots and 35mm SLR`s from the 1960s to present. I can also handle most questions on digital cameras from "camera" makers, like Nikon, Olympus, Canon, Sony, etc. Though usually I`m not too familiar with the driver interface, as 3rd party devices for download are more efficient. Sorry, but I can no longer answer questions about the value of old cameras.
