Question
hi, i want to buy a digital slr. now my last two choices are between nikon d60 and sony a200, the prices are affordible, does sony accept lens other than its own lens? . and does nikon accept lens other than its own? thanxs

Answer
Hi.

Nikon can only mount their own lenses and lenses made for them by other companies.  Also, with the D60, you can only use lenses that are marked as AFS...  meaning that the auto-focus motor is built in.

With Sony you can mount their own lenses or any Minolta lens that is auto-focus. Also you can use any lens made for Sony or Minolta by other companies.

Companies that make lenses for the major camera companies are Sigma, Tamron and Tokina.

Expertise

I can answer questions about point and shoots and 35mm SLR`s from the 1960s to present. I can also handle most questions on digital cameras from "camera" makers, like Nikon, Olympus, Canon, Sony, etc. Though usually I`m not too familiar with the driver interface, as 3rd party devices for download are more efficient. Sorry, but I can no longer answer questions about the value of old cameras.
