Question
QUESTION: I have a Nikon AF F601 camera with a Nikon 70-210 lens and am looking to buy a Nikon D80, body only, will i be able to use my 70-210 lens on the D80 without any loss of performance and still get autofocus

ANSWER: Simon,
Which 70-210 lens do you have?  Give me it's full pedigree.  All the numbers and letters that describe the lens. You might find the description on the front of the lens.

QUESTION: Ah, yes thanks for the prompt reply - now i look its in fact a Sigma lens and it says, 70-210mm 1:4-5.6  UC-11

Thanks

Answer
Your lens will work on all current Nikon cameras except the D40, D40x and D60. You will loose the 3D matrix meter but a legacy meter will come on line in its place. Auto focus will work with the legacy motor built into Nikon cameras from the D80 and up.

Expertise

I can answer questions about point and shoots and 35mm SLR`s from the 1960s to present. I can also handle most questions on digital cameras from "camera" makers, like Nikon, Olympus, Canon, Sony, etc. Though usually I`m not too familiar with the driver interface, as 3rd party devices for download are more efficient. Sorry, but I can no longer answer questions about the value of old cameras.
