Cameras/About after market lenses

Question
Hi Abe.

Thank you very much for your advice, I would pick either a 450D or a 50D but not decided yet. Since you have also advised the 40D instead of the Xsi, I am still comparing the value for the money about these 2 cameras.  On the other hand, I heard that for the same amount of money, after market lenses you would always worth more than the original lenses, how do you think about this?  Tamron seems make very good lenses but I never use them, how do you compare it with Sigma and Tokina?

Merry X’mas.

Francis

Answer
Hi Francis,

I would refer you to slrgear.com which extensively reviews individual lenses both from 3rd party and original manufacturers. Personally, I do not like Tamron lenses. They tend to have a cheaper build quality and the optics are not great. Tokina is even worse. I would go with Sigma most times if choosing 3rd partly lenses. However, OEM lenses (such as Nikon or Canon) are almost always much better.

Let me know what you decide and write again if you need more help.
