Cameras/new digital camera purchase
Expert: Abe - 3/7/2008
QuestionQUESTION: hi,
i currently have a fuji film a825 digital camera. I want something a little better, but do not want to spend a ton of money. This camera is not bad, but i want something that works better in lower light. even with the flash, i cannot get a good picture say at a school graduation or even an in door sports event. Can you reccommend something say no more then $300.00, but maybe a bit less?? Thanks in advance!!
STEVE
ANSWER: Steve,
The flash that comes built in to any camera doesn't have the range you're looking for. SLR's with external flashes are equipped for this kind of distance shooting.
For $300 or less, the working range of any flash will be no more than 15-20 feet. That said, the Canon SX100 IS is a great bargain with a long zoom.

QUESTION: oops....forgot one last question on the Canon SX100 IS, what is the best and largest memory card you recommend for it...thanks in advance!!
AnswerSteve,
Sorry for the delay in my replies. I did not see your question until now.
SDHC is the type of card the camera takes (or even just plain old SD works). They are sold in very large capacities. The best card is Sandisk Extreme IV, but that is complete overkill for this kind of camera. Go with an Ultra II from Sandisk - 2 to 4 GB will be more than you'll probably need. I believe they go up to 8GB.
