Question
Hi John,
I think you can help me out. I've decided to buy a Canon HV30 camcorder. In shopping on the Internet, there are some sites with really low prices, what's the difference with these sites? Should I go with a trusted dealer and pay the higher price, that's what I'm thinking for the piece of mind that I'll get a good product.Thank's for any comments.

Answer
Will,

Hi. Thanks for the question.

I'm by no means a shopping expert.  And I don't know what sites you are looking at.  However, I can say that the net is full of sites that will rip you of or simply give poor service.  I also like to say that if it seems too good to be true, then it probably is.  Use a dealer that you know is reputable as your guide.  If a place you never heard of is beating a known site by a lot of money, then something funny is going on.  Good luck with your purchase.

Expertise

I can answer questions about point and shoots and 35mm SLR`s from the 1960s to present. I can also handle most questions on digital cameras from "camera" makers, like Nikon, Olympus, Canon, Sony, etc. Though usually I`m not too familiar with the driver interface, as 3rd party devices for download are more efficient. Sorry, but I can no longer answer questions about the value of old cameras.

Experience

I'm an "expert" under photography. I've many years experience in photo retail.John and Chris
