Question
I am hoping to purchase a digital camera for my husband. He wants to be a bit more arty than the normal holiday snaps! So a good zoom and large picture view are high on his priorities. However, it also needs to be easy to use as he is a beginner who wants to teach himself and have the right camera to do it with! The budget is approximately £250.

Hi Nina,

I would suggest the Canon SX10 IS or the SX1 IS. Both cameras have full manual controls, a quality lcd that articulates, and a zoom range that is both very wide and long. Both cameras are excellent for the aspiring student photographer who wants room for growth.

Both cameras are nearly identical, with only very minor differences.
