Question
Hello, I am trying to find a take up spool for a Zeiss Contraflex Camera. My husband has one of these cameras, which he has had for many years. Over the past few years he has developed dementia and last year when he was taking the film out of the camera he lost the spool, this is the empty spool that you put the new film onto when you put it in the camera.  As a result the camera is now useless.  Could you please tell me where I might get another one or would a spool from another camera fit?  Hope you can help me. Regards Pam Jowett - Albury,  Australia

Answer
If your contaflex is a medium format (120) camera, then just buy a roll of film and pull the film off of it. Your take up spool is the spool from the roll you just shot....  you just swap positions with it. So you'll have to waste a roll of film to rob the spool.

Expertise

I can answer questions about point and shoots and 35mm SLR`s from the 1960s to present. I can also handle most questions on digital cameras from "camera" makers, like Nikon, Olympus, Canon, Sony, etc. Though usually I`m not too familiar with the driver interface, as 3rd party devices for download are more efficient. Sorry, but I can no longer answer questions about the value of old cameras.
