Question
Hello Abe.

I've bought the Canon Xsi (450D), It was sold as a Boxing Week package for Can$699 at Best Buy. I haven't had a chance to test it as I am still working out of Canada.  I am still looking for a 70-200 f2.8 lenses, yes as your advice that the quality of the OEM should be better than Sigma but the price difference is also quite big. I am trying to compare the Canon 70-200 f4 with the Sigma 70-200 f2.8.  Do you have any suggestion?

Thanks

Francis.

Answer
Hi Francis,

I've included three links that will help you to make a comparison. Ultimately, the Canon version is better. If you are going to do serious work (as in professional or semi-pro) or plan to make large prints, the Canon is probably the right choice. In lenses, you generally get exactly what you pay for. However, the Sigma version/s are quite good, too.

The Sigma review is here: http://www.slrgear.com/reviews/showproduct.php/product/57/cat/11

The newer Sigma version with user reviews is here: http://www.slrgear.com/reviews/showproduct.php/product/352/cat/31

The Canon review can be found here: http://www.slrgear.com/reviews/showproduct.php/product/57/cat/11

Note that the Canon's built in image stabilization system allows you to shoot at 3x slower shutter speeds.

Good luck!
