Question
IT HAS A PROMASTER ASPHERICAL 28-80MM LENS.  SERIAL #96912440. SILVER BODY. POP-UP FLASH. IS THERE A MODEL NUMBER? I WOULD LIKE TO GET A PANARAMIC LENS AND USERS MANUAL, BUT I CANNOT EVEN FIND THIS PARTICULAR CAMERA ANYWHERE I HAVE LOOKED ON THE WEB. PLEASE HELP

Answer
James,

In the US this camera was simply known as the STSi.  Overseas it was knows as the 404si and as the Alpha Sweet SI. You can get a manual here:  http://www.oldtimercameras.com/

Minolta doesn't make cameras anymore.  But Sony purchased Minolta's camera division.  So you can use many of the lenses made by Sony or in old Minolta AF lenses.  When shopping for Sony lenses, keep in mind that you can't use anything marked for "digital only" or anything marked "DT".

Expertise

I can answer questions about point and shoots and 35mm SLR`s from the 1960s to present. I can also handle most questions on digital cameras from "camera" makers, like Nikon, Olympus, Canon, Sony, etc. Though usually I`m not too familiar with the driver interface, as 3rd party devices for download are more efficient. Sorry, but I can no longer answer questions about the value of old cameras.
