Cameras/turns on and off

Question
I have a Sony cybershot 7.2 megapixel digital camera, i just recieved it this christmas, and worked fine until recently. Whenever i turn it on, and take the picture, it flashes then turns off. sometimes i cant even take a picture. it just turns off. what is wrong with my camera? is there any hope to fix it or do i have to buy a new one?

There is no way to really tell what is wrong with your camera without sending it in to Sony. If you've only had it since Christmas, then it is still under warranty and Sony should fix it for you, or replace it if it can't be fixed.
