Question
I have an old minolta 35mm camera with a couple different zoom lenses.  I'm looking to buy a digital 35mm camera and wanted to know if there are any brands that would allow me to still use the minolta lenses.
Thanks

Answer
Mary,

Wow.  It seems to be Minolta Day! I think I've had four in a row!

Well, it depends on which camera you've got.  If you've got an auto focus Minolta (called either Maxum or Dynax with a model number after) then yes, you could (though you may not want to) use the lenses on the Sony Alpha line of digital SLRs.

If you have a manual focus Minolta (built before 1985) then no, you can't use the lenses.  The manual focus cameras had model designations like SRT, XG, X, etc. with a number after.

Expertise

I can answer questions about point and shoots and 35mm SLR`s from the 1960s to present. I can also handle most questions on digital cameras from "camera" makers, like Nikon, Olympus, Canon, Sony, etc. Though usually I`m not too familiar with the driver interface, as 3rd party devices for download are more efficient. Sorry, but I can no longer answer questions about the value of old cameras.
